The below plots show daily cumulative (added up) Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) from the North Atlantic and the eastern North Pacific. Values are calculated from the 00, 06, 12, and 18 UTC entries in the National Hurricane Center operational best-track ("b-deck") files. Plots are updated once per day after the 18 UTC intensity estimate becomes available. Click each image for a larger version:

 



Note: above ACE values omit subtropical and tropical cyclones prior to 1 May. Times are omitted from ENP totals if the TC moves west of 140°W even if it formed in the eastern North Pacific (such as 2023's Hurricane Dora).

Real-time ocean observations

I am generating graphics for regional SST anomalies and trends for the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. Data availability depends on the NOAA server that hosts the SST dataset used to generate these plots.
